In 1958, Dietrich Hasse, Jörg Lehne, Siegi Loew and Lothar Brandler open the Direttissima route, in the north face o the Cima Ovest di Lavaredo, considered at the time as the hardest route of the Alps. Two years later, Lothar Brandler himself makes his first film: the first filmed ascent of the Direttissima. A young German climber, Wulf Scheffler and the renowned Italian mountain guide Gino Soldà meet in Lavaredo to repeat the route. Soldà arrives accompanied by his daughter Evi, who will camp at the base of the mountain to help them in the provisioning on the wall and who will wait for them until they come back from the top.
