The main protagonist of the documentary is the rope, a safety indispensable element in the difficult mountaineering enterprises. From a sixth grade climb in the Dolomites to the dangerous ice passages in the Western Alps. We also see a dozen guides replacing the fixed hemp rope in the most difficult passages of the routes to ascend the Matterhorn and the Dent du Géant. Finally, the rope appears as an element of safety for downhill skiers on crevassed glaciers and for rock climbers in the vertiginous descents of the Dolomite walls. The protagonists are two world champions of rock climbing and skiing: Cesare Maestri and Leo Gasperl.
