The largest research laboratory ever built at high altitudes. Last year the Ticino doctor Reto Pezzoli, a great mountain enthusiast, took part in the Swiss expedition to the Himlung Himal (7126 m): a peak located between Everest and Annapurna. Purpose of the expedition: to collect information on the reaction of the human body at high altitude by exploiting the availability of about forty alpinists-cavia who have undergone intensive medical examinations up to 7000 meters in height. About thirty doctors and researchers followed the climb of the participants bringing home a multitude of data that will allow to deepen the scientific knowledge in this field.
