This ABC 1979 Wide World of Sports program covered the ascent of the Old Man of Hoy, a 449-foot (137m) sea stack on the island of Hoy, part of the Orkney archipelago off the north coast of Scotland by climbers Ron Kauk and Nicki Wright. ABC's Wide World of Sports was an American sports anthology television program that aired on the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) from April 29, 1961 to January 3, 1998, primarily on Saturday afternoons.
