    A portrait of the professional climber, North East mountaineer Alan Hinkes. So far, he has been beaten twice by K2, the 'savage mountain' of the Himalayas. In 1995 he embarks on his third attempt to K2 by the southeast Ridge Abruzzi Spur, joining a US expedition along with Alison Hargreaves, who died during the descent. Ten years later, in 2005, Hinkes became the first British mountaineer to summit all the 14 eight-thousanders.
