    L'avventura della mia vita

    L'avventura della mia vita

    Walter Licastro (1987)

First episode of the 'Reinhold Messner - In nome della montagna' series. A magazine program by the Italian television about mountaineering feats, presented by Reinhold Messner. In this episode, Messner talks about his conquest of 14 8000s in the world, from the first one of Everest without oxygen to all the others, the last of which he climbed last autumn. Messner says one needs some essential qualities to make these conquests, such as a perfect technical ability, physical strength, great determination and will power, but one must also know one's limits. The film also shows some scenes of previous attempts made in 1924 by the expedition led by Mallory that reached over 8500 m.

Climbing Everest with a mountain on my back - The sherpa's story

Climbing Everest with a mountain on my back - The sherpa's story

    Heinz Leger (2012)

Every year, over a thousand climbers try to reach the summit of Mount Everest, with the annual record for successful attempts currently standing at 633. But of that number, nearly half were Sherpas - the mountain's unsung heroes. Yet the Sherpa community has remained secretive about their nation, culture and experiences living in the shadow of the world's highest mountain. Now, for the first time, they open the door into their world. Adapted version for the BBC of the original Austrian documentary 'Die Suche der Sherpas'.

    Die Suche der Sherpas DVD

    Die Suche der Sherpas

    Heinz Leger (2012)

Sherpas are the real heroes of high altitude mountaineering. To the early explorers of the Himalayan region they were immeasurably valuable. Without their skills as guides, their hardiness and endurance as porters even the most modern mountain expeditions would not have been possible. But to this day the achievements of the Sherpas have not found their way into the alpine history books. The blue-chip documentary 'The Sherpas' Quest' shows where these people come from and reveals the real importance of the Sherpas for the international climbing and mountaineering community.

    The Himalayas

    The Himalayas

    Brando Quilici (1994)

This is the story of the conquest of Everest and what that achievement has meant to the world. We see climbers who have conquered the mountain and those who have died in the attempt. We meet the Sherpa people, examine the science of mountaineering in high altitudes, hear from expedition leaders and team members throughout their journeys, while cameras capture every peril along the icy peaks. Viewers will be reminded that Everest is a world of illusion, a world that becomes hostile in seconds, with vicious winds and man-killing ice shifts.
