In November 2016, Barbara 'Babsi' Zangerl and Jacopo Larcher went to battle on one of El Capitan most formidable free routes. With some of the hardest climbing in the Yosemite Valley crammed into 16-pitches, Zodiac (5.13d) had only seen two previous free ascents—until Babsi and Jacopo showed up. The route, opened by Charlie Porter in 1972, was first free climbed by Alex and Thomas Huber in October 2003, and later, by Tommy Caldwell just two months later.

He also climbs the hardest local routes, including successful and emotions packed climb of legendary several pitches long Spomin, that he onsighted in Paklenica canyon, Croatia. This films documents Traversi trying his ultimate challenge—to climb a V14, 5.14, and a 14er in one day: A feat that has never been accomplished. The perspective of difficulty is forever changing. But perhaps the greatest proponent behind the ever-evolving standards of what’s truly challenging lies within one simple act … that of giving it a darn good try.

What does it take to climb the world’s first 9c? Let’s find out in Silence, a movie by Bernardo Giménez. It shows what preceded the afternoon of September 3, 2017, when Adam Ondra, a professional rock climber and currently one of the best climbers in the world, made a little piece of climbing history when he climbed his project in the spectacular Hanshelleren Cave in Norway. The route, later named Silence, received a new grade of 9c and became the hardest route in the world.

From 5.13 big walls in Yosemite to 5.14 sport climbs in Mexico to V14 boulder problems in Colorado, Pretty Strong follows eight of the world’s strongest female climbers as they explore new climbing areas, send hard projects, and push the boundaries of the sport and themselves. Putting badass ladies front and center, this film is about some of the best climbers in the world doing what they do best: crushing hard rock climbs. The climbers featured include Nina Williams, Katie Lambert, Daila Ojeda, Hazel Findlay, and more. Created by the all-women production team Never Not Collective, Pretty Strong is a climbing film about women, by women, and for everyone.

Nalle Hukkatiaval is driven by first ascents. For him, the moment of actually climbing a boulder problem is secondary —a mere 10%— compared to the hard work of actually unearthing the line. This film documents Nalle’s battle with one of America’s hardest boulder problems: Sleepwalker V16 (8C+), in Black Velvet Canyon (Nevada), a project he could not complete in 2018 when he started it, and since then, only ascended by Jimmy Webb and Daniel Woods.
