Brian Blessed

In his sixtieth year, Brian Blessed makes a last attempt to climb Mount Everest. If he succeeded he would be the oldest climber to have done so but nineteen ninety-six proves to be the worst climbing season, claiming eleven lives in four weeks. The program follows his attempts through treacherous weather conditions, as he tries to fulfill his dream of reaching the summit. Previously Blessed attempted to climb Mount Everest twice, in 1991 and 1993 respectively.

Documentary in which actor Brian Blessed recreates George Mallory's 1924 climb of Mount Everest, through climbing the mountain himself in 1920's clothing and reading out loud extracts from Mallory's original letters which relate the experience. Archive footage from the original expedition is also used.

Ascent of Mars Mountain is a documentary about rock climbing that takes place in Olympus Mons and Indian Creek. It was directed by Laurent Lichtenstein in 2004 and produced by Moonbeam Films. It features Brian Blessed, Catherine Destivelle, Steve Bell, Charles Frankel, Darlene Lim, Pascal Colas and others.

Catherine Destivelle will make three spectacular climbs in the Alps accompanied by three different climbing partners. Each partner chosen because they had a profound impact on her life. During the ascents, she will share with us the sense of freedom and passion that the mountains inspire and the pleasure of reaching the summits. More than an intimate portrait of Catherine, the film sheds light on the close relationships that develop between climbers and the special connections made in mountaineering.
