During an expedition to the peak of Makalu in the Himalayan mountains, the extreme mountaineer Knock Russell and his Sherpa Tashi Ram fight for survival. Only Ram manages the descent of the mountain. Years later, a further expedition sets out to find Russells body and reconstruct the unbelievable events. The film uses the forms of documentary filmmaking to create a take on the crisis of masculinity as caused by a mountain that is both powerful and camp at the same time.
