    Dirtbag Vod

    Dirtbag

    Dave O'Leske (2017)

Fred Beckey is the legendary American 'Dirtbag' mountaineer whose name has evoked mystery, sarcasm and adulation since the 1940s. His stubborn determination to climb one peak after another was translated into a solitary life on the road, where he left a trail of furious climbing partners and abandoned lovers. At the age of 94 he is still obsessed by the mountains and plans ambitious expeditions, but the man who once cavorted over the rock and ice now has to come to terms with everyday life. The story of this athletic rebel, who inspired generations of climbers with his monumental first ascents and impassioned books, is recounted for the first time.

The Dawn Wall - Behind the scenes

    Josh Lowell (2018)

The Dawn Wall is the film that documents the first free ascent of the most difficult big wall climb in the world, completed in January 2015 by Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson. The true achievement is obviously the first free ascent Dawn Wall, carried out by Tommy and Kevin at the end of 2014 and the start of 2015. But almost equal to that undertaking are the efforts required to document their attempts and progress, for almost an entire decade, up the smooth 1000 meter El Capitan in Yosemite. In this making of video, the guys at Sender Films share some of the strategies they used to push the limits of what’s possible in big-wall filmmaking.

Avaatara - The First Route Out

    Corey Rich (2015)

For his latest adventure, accomplished climber David Lama fixes his sights on setting a route up the untouched Baatara Gorge in Lebanon. He faces a considerable challenge, maybe even more than he originally anticipated. Lama, whose focus had been directed exclusively towards mountaineering for several years, goes back to his sport climbing roots and try to put up the first ever climb out of the Baatara gorge sinkhole, also known as the ‘Cave of the Three Bridges’, a landmark of Jurassic limestone in the Tannourine, 75 kilometres outside the Lebanese capital city, Beirut.

    A new perspective

    A new perspective

    Corey Rich (2012)

For many years Austrian David Lama has dominated the field of international climbing. But now it‘s time he raises the level once again. In July 2012 he set out with climbing partner Peter Ortner to face the Nameless Tower/Trango Tower- part of the Trango Towers in the Karakoram mountain range- in a remote region of Pakistan.Together they attempt a free climb of the Eternal Flame route- one of the most notoriously challenging routes in the climbing world- made famous in 2009 by renowned German climbers The Huber brothers. At 6000 metres conditions are extreme- it‘s bitterly cold- even in the height of summer the snow doesn‘t melt. With minimal gear they begin their summit bid accompanied by climber and cameraman Corey Rich who captures an insight into the Lama‘s climbing progression. With additional sweeping shots from Remo Masina piloting a radio control Dedicam results in unique panoramic views from the huge Pakastani mountain range.
