Cerro Kishtwar
Ben Benson (2012)
With the biggest peak project in history, Swiss mountaineering company Mammut celebrates its 150th anniversary: in the course of the “150 Peaks Project“, 150 summit climbs will be organized worldwide between August 2011 and August 2012. The plan was to climb the 6,200 Cerro Kishtwar at India’s Kashmir region within a period of six weeks. After four weeks already, mountaineering pros David Lama (AUT), Stephan Siegrist (SUI), and Denis Burdet (SUI) stood on the peak.
Before, they had conquered the frightening 1000- metre north face of the Himalayan tower in a stunning first ascent. An admirable performance at this remote region near the borders to Pakistan and China, which no Western mountaineer had been allowed to visit for 18 years!- 2012
