The Torri del Vajolet, their history and the first time they were climbed is recounted in this film. When, a hundred years ago, Georg Winkler of Munich, climbed to the summit of one of them alone, everyone was amazed. Winkler with this climb opened a new area in alpinism; an alpinism "without guides" and "solo" but at the time difficult and hazardous without the use of ropes for safety. The Torri provide some of the best climbing in the Dolomites even today.- 1985
