Hold Fast
Jim Aikman (2017)
While making a summit attempt to an unclimbed peak in Nepal in 2016, Conrad Anker suffered a heart attack. With his climbing partner, David Lama, able to do little more than look on, Anker self-rescued from 20,000 feet. It marked the end of his long and storied career as a high-altitude mountaineer, but not his passion to climb. In Hold Fast, Anker returns to one of his favorite big wall climbs — El Cap, in Yosemite National Park. With him is Alex Wildman, an ardent amateur climber and close friend. The good news is that Wildman is a cardiac nurse. But he has never before climbed a big wall. And he has a serious health concern of his own.- 2017

L'avventura della mia vita
Walter Licastro (1987)

Messner says one needs some essential qualities to make these conquests, such as a perfect technical ability, physical strength, great determination and will power, but one must also know one's limits. The film also shows some scenes of previous attempts made in 1924 by the expedition led by Mallory that reached over 8500 m.Walter Licastro, Fabrizio Truini

Heinz Leger (2012)
Every year, over a thousand climbers try to reach the summit of Mount Everest, with the annual record for successful attempts currently standing at 633. But of that number, nearly half were Sherpas - the mountain's unsung heroes. Now, for the first time, they open the door into their world. Adapted version for the BBC of the original Austrian documentary 'Die Suche der Sherpas'.Climbing Everest with a mountain on my back - The sherpa's story

Die Suche der Sherpas
Heinz Leger (2012)
Sherpas are the real heroes of high altitude mountaineering. To the early explorers of the Himalayan region they were immeasurably valuable. Without their skills as guides, their hardiness and endurance as porters even the most modern mountain expeditions would not have been possible. But to this day the achievements of the Sherpas have not found their way into the alpine history books. The blue-chip documentary 'The Sherpas' Quest' shows where these people come from and reveals the real importance of the Sherpas for the international climbing and mountaineering community.- 2012

Die Berge, die Menschen, der Wahn
Stefan König (1998)
Questions are kept in mind: what impelled and drove the people into these extreme landscapes, onto such dangerous heights? What do they get from the mountains and what do they do to the mountains? These questions are the basis for this two hour documentary. This is the first film which takes a unique and comprehensive approach to this extensive subject. There is no commentary necessary, as the protagonists giving their account of the cultural history are experts in their field and quite charismatic personalities. This documentary film is not only conveyed through the lavish pictures or alpinistic enthusiasm, but through the individuals narrating each chapter.Die Berge, die Menschen, der Wahn

The Himalayas
Brando Quilici (1994)
This is the story of the conquest of Everest and what that achievement has meant to the world. We see climbers who have conquered the mountain and those who have died in the attempt. We meet the Sherpa people, examine the science of mountaineering in high altitudes, hear from expedition leaders and team members throughout their journeys, while cameras capture every peril along the icy peaks. Viewers will be reminded that Everest is a world of illusion, a world that becomes hostile in seconds, with vicious winds and man-killing ice shifts.- 1994
