The ascent of Everest
Antonello Padovano (2019)
This is the story of how, on May 29, 1953, two men, both endowed with outstanding stamina and skill reached for the first time the top of the world: the summit of Mount Everest. Sir Edmund Hillary, accompanies us with his narration through all the stages of his victorious ascent, telling unknown details and reliving the epic climb giving the story an unprecedented and surprising testimony. His description of Tenzing definitely clarifies his relationship with his partner and his narration of why he wants to reach the summit enlightens us intimately on his motivation as mountaineer.- 2019

NZAC Himalayan Expedition Barun Valley 1954
George Lowe (1954)
Filmed by George Lowe and taken on the New Zealand Alpine Club’s 1954 Expedition to the Barun Valley in Nepal. Ed Hillary was the leader of the expedition. It was a large expedition involving a number of New Zealand’s best mountaineers at the time. Roland Ellis did a great deal of organising for this expedition and I think in the end, as a keen amateur film buff, also financed the movie. He edited it and organised Ed to be the commentator.NZAC Himalayan Expedition Barun Valley 1954

Details the events and facts of an extraordinary life whose public life was exemplary - climber, diplomat, aid worker – and whose private life was touched by tragedy. The highlight is Sir Ed’s own interviews, which are candid, balanced and wise.- 1987
