Hans Kammerlander crowned Manaslu in 2017, along with Stephan Keck, and skied down through a new route. That’s the way these two great mountaineers found redemption after the tragedies they went through on that same mountain years before. With archive footage, interviews and magnific dramatic reconstructions, the film goes through Kammerlander’s greatest achievements and his most painful losses. He is one of the greatest alpinists in history, who keeps asking himself how and why he survived while his best friends passed away in the mountain.Climbing locations

There are only a few climbers who are able to move as fast and as safe in steep ice falls, hardly anyone undertakes as many difficult solos as he does. The small borderline between performance and suffering on the one side, and responsibility for himself and his family on the other, is still a challenge for Markus Pucher. In the last years, the Carinthian athlete has developed to be one of the best all-round mountaineers of present time.Climbing locations

North faces are the epitome of extreme mountaineering. This is particularly true of the north faces of the Eiger, Matterhorn, Grandes Jorasses, Piz Badile, Großer Zinne, Petit Dru and the Drei Zinnen - in the 20th century they embodied the goals a mountaineer must have set himself in order to belong to the elite. To this day, they are playgrounds of extremes. The documentary shows the large north faces of the Alps from a surprising perspective. World-renowned top mountaineers such as Hansjörg Auer, Alexander Huber and Robert Jasper demonstrate the art of climbing at the highest level with first ascents and solo ascents.Climbing locations

Peter Ressmann was an experienced alpinist - during a routine exercise in 2010 he died in an accident. The portrait shows how Ressmann developed from a Kitzbühel boy to a mountaineer on the one hand, but above all to a straightforward and grounded person on the other. Mountain partners like Axel Naglich remember this unique mountaineer, who was not only known and appreciated for the longest ski run from Mount St. Elias.Climbing locations

On 14 July 1865 the Matterhorn was first climbed. Bergwelten takes this event as an opportunity to take a look at the most exciting events on the most famous mountain in the Alps. From the first summit ascent, the first ascent of the north face in 1931 and the legendary winter solo entrance of the Italian Walter Bonatti in 1965, to the unique achievements of today's mountaineers. The film impresses with spectacular climbing shots and unique shots of the film work in the wall. And it accompanies people whose lives are inseparably linked to the unique mountain on the Swiss-Italian border. The Zermatt mountain guide Michi Lerjen grew up on the Swiss side of the mountain. Hervé Barmasse, on the other hand, comes from the Italian side - as a scion of a mountain guide family, he knows the Matterhorn better than anyone else.Climbing locations
