Adaptation for the television of the novel by Roger Frison-Roche 'La grande crevasse'. The story is in the same context as 'Premier de cordee' but is not centered on the same characters. It tells the love story of Zian, a mountain guide, and Brigitte, a Parisian bourgeois. Their love is thwarted by the cultural difference between the two as well as by the cold welcome that is reserved for Brigitte, the stranger in this mountain environment. In the end, Brigitte understands that she is really in love with Zian who dies after a fall in a crevasse, during a hunting trip in the mountains.

Two rope parties are competing for a famous impassable face in the Mont Blanc Massif. All along the difficulties they are facing, characters are refined, even sharpened. When exhaustion and death occur, the two parties merge and the new group try to escape to death.

Docudrama about some of the more spectacular exploits of French mountain climbers over the last several decades. It recounts a day of climbing in Chamonix. Different parties are at the refuge, they tell tales, get ready for their day, then go climbing. Some are novices on easy route, others are guides with clients, others are pro climbers putting up a new route. Things happen, small things like getting lost, big things like rescuing a snowblind climber.
