Ernest Hemingway, who was called 'black, cherry-drinking Christ' by the locals, describes his experiences in Vorarlberg in his work 'Ein glücklicher Winter' and the ski tour from Schruns to Galtür in 'Gebirgsidyll'.

    In autumn 1862, three enthusiastic students founded the second oldest mountaineering association in the world - the Austrian Alpine Association. After 150 years of eventful history, the association has always remained true to the basic values of the founding period: To spread knowledge about the Alps, to promote love for them and to facilitate their 'journey'. The most important founding member Paul Grohmann is portrayed by the well-known actor Simon Schwarz, who is also a member of the Alpine Club and a mountain friend in 'real life'.
