27 January 1977: The Italian flag and the symbol of the Cai Alta Val Brembana fly on the summit of Mount Kenya, with its 5,200 metres, the second highest on the African continent. The mountaineering expedition of a group of people from Bergamo reached the top of Punta Lenana, one of the four peaks of the Kenya massif. In that group of enthusiasts there was a particular component: Egidio Gherardi, 'the climber with crutches' who relives Friday, January 16 in an evening in Zogno, Val Brembana, organized by friends of Cai Zogno. In this occasion is also presented the project 'Di nuovo al Calvi' by Giorgio Scuri in favor of ARMR Foundation for research against rare diseases.- 1977

Hualca Hualca. Our expedition from Bergamo was composed of Elena Bordogni, Andrea Facchetti, Mario Quattrini, Gianni Scarpellini, Giorgio Tofanini and me as leader. Porters were Macario Angeles and Natividad Demetrio. All of us on August 7 made the third ascent of Hualca Hualca (19,767 feet) by a new route, the north ridge. On August 10 Facchetti and I made the second ascent of Tacuriti (c. 19,450 feet) up its north slope and I continued alone to make the second ascent of neighboring Pucarumi (c. 19,350 feet) by its east ridge.- 1973
