    Rêver sous les étoiles

    Rêver sous les étoiles

    Gilles Chappaz (2015)

For almost fifteen years, Vanessa dedicated her life to the mountains. Every day, she strives to become a high level mountaineer and one day she will graduate as a high mountain guide. But one spring morning, in a few seconds, his life will change: the fall of a block of ice breaks his spine at the same time as his dreams. She needs to relearn how to live with her new condition as a paraplegic. She will invent new challenges between dream and ambition and with the solidarity of her companions of 'extraordinary rope'. It is this incredible journey of Vanessa that 'Dreaming under the stars' wants to tell through ascents made in the Verdon, in Yosemite, on the edge of the Cosmiques and other mountain sports.

Pierre Mazeaud, la vie en face(s) DVD

Pierre Mazeaud, la vie en face(s)

    Gilles Chappaz (2013)

Pierre Mazeaud has managed to unite three of his passions which seem to have nothing in common, at a very high level: mountaineering, jurisprudence and policy. The Everest mountaineer, rescued from the Freney Pillar, the passionate jurist, the former sports minister, privy counsellor, and president of the French Constitutional Court is a charismatic personality. This sensitive film portrait follows a line, which Pierre Mazeaud himself has quoted: “Alpinism belongs to those who provide themselves with means to reach their goals, to those who are fully committed to a goal, to those, who know the value of solidarity of men, and to those who are aware that true human existence can only be fulfilled by proceeding with a team of roped-partners.”

Sur le fil des 4000 DVD

    Sur le fil des 4000

    Gilles Chappaz (2004)

On March 1, 2004, Patrick Bérhault and Philippe Magnin set out to climb one after other, all 82 summits above 4000 metres in the Alps. Both climbers are well-known for their solid experience and purist approach to climbing, so the emphasis for this large-scale project is on making the most of the pleasures of mountaineering. They brave changing weather and strong emotions as they proceed on their long journey into the unknown. On April 28, after almost two months of climbing, they are making their way along Nadelgrat, an interminable ridge between Täschhorn and Dom leading up to their 67th summit, when without warning, a rocky foothold falls away and Berhault falls and dies.
