Tod am Nanga Parbat
Ludwig Ott (2010)
Revised version of the 2004 documentary Tod am Nanga Parbat, about Messner brothers' tragedy on Nanga Parbat in 1970. The documentary shows rare footage and photo shots of the expedition, and expedition members comment on the tragic and frequently critically discussed event. Especially interesting is the testimony of Gerhard Baur, who became the last witness, as he spent the night before the summit attempt together with the Messner brothers in the high camp. This revised version of the film includes a final segment with footage of the recovery of Günther's remains, that were found in 2005 at the base of the mountain.- 2010
