    K2 - The Impossible Descent

    Slawomir Batyra (2020)

The Polish ski mountaineer Andrzej Bargiel re-wrote history on the K2 (8.611m summit), the infamous Himalayan peak, the world’s second-highest mountain. On July 22nd, 2018 he summited K2 without oxygen and skied from peak to base without removing his skis – a seemingly impossible challenge which had never been completed before or since. The 60h+ ascent of K2 alone is an extraordinary achievement that pushes even the most experienced and highest skilled mountaineers to their limits.

The line between Good and Evil

The line between Good and Evil

    Ben Clark (2019)

The Line Between Good and Evil traces the route of Hilaree Nelson, on her two-decade vision to summit and ski Papsura, an attractive mountain 21,165 ft in the Indian Himalaya. Papsura, the peak of evil, reigns over its nearest rival Dharmsura, the peak of good (21,148 ft.). The film follows Hilaree's journey from her first Indian Himalayan expedition in 1999 until 2017, and exposes the commitment to the line she would ski and the line she would have to walk for half her life to attempt it. This film is a harrowing account of the deepest commitment to the grips of dreams.

    Lhotse

    Nicolas Kalisz (2019)

On 30 September 2018 Hilaree Nelson and Jim Morrison completed the first integral ski descent of Lhotse (8516m). The Americans had traveled to the Himalaya in the post-monsoon season hoping that the couloir would be covered in snow and, as they were on their own, their expedition had to prepare the Icefall and the route on its own. Nelson and Morrison opted to use supplementary oxygen from 8300m onwards, ie from the base of the couloir, while they started skiing right from the summit and finished all the way down in Camp 2 at 6400 meters.
