    Everest 93 - Un cim pera a l'ecologia

    Jaume Altadill (1995)

In 1993, the year this documentary was recorded, there were already more than five hundred tons of rubbish in the highest mountain in the world, Everest. The documentary follows the Catalan expedition 'Gas Natural - Everest' 93 ', which had another goal besides getting to the top: clean up the mountain of waste. The expedition collects and removes from the mountain more than twenty tons of waste (oxygen bottles, bags, masks, tents ...) that had been abandoned over the years for previous expeditions. The same expedition is the object of another one-hour documentary: La limpieza del Everest.

    Everest 82

    Everest 82

    Jordi Pons (1983)

Official film of the first Catalan expedition to Everest in 1982 by the difficult West Ridge, organized by the Centre Excursionista de Catalunya (CEC). Xavier Pérez Gil and Òscar Cadiach reached a height of 8,500m, but strong winds and the technical difficulties forced them to retreat. The expedition joined two generations of Catalan climbers: the veterans who made the first ascent of Annapurna West in 1974, and the young ones who made the first Catalan ascent of Everest three years later. In 1982, the West Ridge direct route, first attempted by a French team in 1974, had only been completed once, by a Yugoslav expedition in 1979.
