Jeanne Mascolo de Filippis

Doctor and alpinist, aged 43, Christine Janin is the only Frenchwoman to have reached the roof of the world: Everest! This most adventurous of mountaineers has conquered the highest summits on the planet, including some at 8,000 meters without oxygen. In 1997, she was the first woman in the world to reach the North Pole, after 62 days on skis without sled dogs! She didn't accomplish that exploit for the sole pleasure of risk-taking, but to finance an extraordinary project: an Association she created in 1994, 'Everyone Their Everest.
