    1 Mountain

    David Reichert (2011)

Hunter Wood has quietly become one of the best big-mountain skiers in the world, but one of North America's most dangerous peaks has towered over everything he has done - the Grand. Now in his mid-thirties, with dead-end jobs and a disappointed father, he feels pressure to leave the mountains to 'make some money'. But, before Hunter can move on, he needs to test his abilities on the Grand. After witnessing two friends narrowly escape death - one is caught in an avalanche and the other falls into a crevasse - he nearly abandons his attempt. But the pull of the mountains is strong. Will Hunter be able to ski the Grand? And if he succeeds, will he be able to leave his beloved mountains?

    Lhotse

    Nicolas Kalisz (2019)

On 30 September 2018 Hilaree Nelson and Jim Morrison completed the first integral ski descent of Lhotse (8516m). The Americans had traveled to the Himalaya in the post-monsoon season hoping that the couloir would be covered in snow and, as they were on their own, their expedition had to prepare the Icefall and the route on its own. Nelson and Morrison opted to use supplementary oxygen from 8300m onwards, ie from the base of the couloir, while they started skiing right from the summit and finished all the way down in Camp 2 at 6400 meters.
