Kongur
(1982)
Record of the 1981 British Mount Kongur Expedition to China. For the planned alpine-style ascent of this daunting peak, Bonington assembled a formidable team, including Peter Boardman, Joe Tasker, Al Rouse and expedition leader Michael Ward. Their reconnaissance and 1981 expedition brought an opportunity for discovery and obstacles in equal measure: they were able to explore areas that had eluded westerners since Eric Shipton’s role as British Consul General in Kashgar in the 1940s; but appalling weather, unplanned bivouacs, and tensions characterized their quest for the ever-elusive route to the summit.

K2 - Triumph and tragedy on the savage mountain
Barry Reynolds (1988)
Chris Bonington and Jim Curran trace the history of K2 expeditions from 1903 to the disastrous loss of life in the summer of 1986, when 13 climbers died on K2, climbing tragedies that aggressively carved the epithet the 'savage mountain' into the public consciousness. Jim Curran was hired by the British 'Fuller’s K2' team to document their attempt on the unclimbed NW Ridge, so he was at the mountain, all summer. Inevitably, his documentary ended up drifting into a gripping narrative from the front line of the disastrous and tragic summer that killed 13 climbers on K2.K2 - Triumph and tragedy on the savage mountain

Chris Bonington - The Everest years
Allen Jewhurst (1987)
Everest is beyond all but a few of us. It's nothing complicated that leads Chris Bonington back to the Himalayas as one of the world's most respected mountaineers - just a simple overwhelming love of mountains and rock-climbing, and a mind clearly focused on what he does supremely well. The sublime heights and deep tragedies that come with tackling the world's most awesome challenges, the exultation of the summits and the loss of dearest friends, are witnessed in this film. Both a record of some of the most remarkable achievements in climbing, and a tale of a family and a home in the English Lake District, the contrast between these twin sides of the man has led to a heartfelt life powerfully lived.Chris Bonington - The Everest years
