Short version of the documentary '7 tage im september'. In September 2012, the Bavarian extreme mountaineer Benedikt Böhm sets a world record in speed mountaineering. Without oxygen devices, he reaches the summit of Manaslu and skies down in record time. But over the summit victory hangs a dark shadow. A few days before, when he and his mountain mate Sebastian Haag started the ascent, eleven climbers had been killed by an avalanche at this mountain. Barely the two escaped from the avalanche. They were the first on the scene of the accident and helped to recover the dead and injured. Two years later, Sebastian Haag is tragically killed by an avalanche at Shisha Pangma. Benedikt Böhm survives.Climbing locations

Tyrolean Markus Kronthaler rises his arms to the sky. He stands on the summit of the 8047 meter high Broad Peak. A few moments later he collapses and dies of exhaustion and lack of fluids, only a few metres away from the summit. His brother and companion Georg has to leave the corpse up there. One year later, Georg Kronthaler, together with two friends, the mountain rescuers Paul Koller and Stefan Lackner, and with six Pakistan high altitude porters, comes back to the mountain to pick up his dead brother from the summit of this 8.000m peak. A risky enterprise and a competition against time.Climbing locations
