Riders on the Storm
Franz Walter (2016)
Ines Papert and Mayan Smith-Gobat, accompanied by their photographer friends Thomas Senf and Franz Walter, attempt to free climb 'Riders on the storm', in the extremely difficult east face of Torre Central del Paine, Patagonia. The route was first climbed by Wolfgang Güllich, Kurt Albert, Bernd Arnold, Peter Dittrich and Norbert Bätz in January 1991 in 15 days of climbing over a five-week period. This stunning line on the sheer 1300m east face of Torre Central line went at 7c, A3. The climbing is very varied and demanding, ranging from delicate and runout face climbing to wide cracks and roofs, which were often entirely iced up. As yet, there have been no free ascents of this route, though many strong climbers have tried.- 2016

Rotpunkt
Chelsea Jolly (2019)
Through failure and success, Alex Megos strives to be the best climber in the world. The movie is a portrait of the German climber and a look into the history of free climbing including the likes of Kurt Albert and Wolfgang Güllich. The film analyses Megos through his strengths and weaknesses and delves into his origins, namely the start of the Rotpunkt movement, that revolutionary red dot invented in 1975 in Germany's Frankenjura by Kurt Albert which indicates that a route has been climbed free, without the use of aid for progression.- 2019

Kerze im Wind
Stefan Urlass (1999)
In December 1998 friends Kurt Albert and Bernd Arnold set off to Patagonia with the aim of climbing a new route on the Aguja Mermoz. In the 'country where the wind grows', that is how the Tehuelche, the indigenous people of Patagonia called the inhospitable south of South America. The film not only documents the battle of the two climbers on the most difficult and beautiful mountain range in the world; it mirrors alos, as it were, their special climbing philosophy and makes Bernd and Kurt's self-chosen 'second home' known to the viewers.- 1999

This film was made for the Bayerischer Rundfunk. Two German alpinists (Kurt Albert and Immo Engelhard) decide to climb some difficult mountains in the Dolomites. Die Berge, die Menschen, der Wahn
Stefan König (1998)
Questions are kept in mind: what impelled and drove the people into these extreme landscapes, onto such dangerous heights? What do they get from the mountains and what do they do to the mountains? These questions are the basis for this two hour documentary. This is the first film which takes a unique and comprehensive approach to this extensive subject. There is no commentary necessary, as the protagonists giving their account of the cultural history are experts in their field and quite charismatic personalities. This documentary film is not only conveyed through the lavish pictures or alpinistic enthusiasm, but through the individuals narrating each chapter.Die Berge, die Menschen, der Wahn
