Above all else
Jamie Clarke (1998)
This documentary recounts how Canadian climbers Jamie Clarke and Alan Hobson made three attempts on the summit of Everest over the span of 10 years. On their first attempt in 1991, they tackled Everest from the more challenging north face. 500 meters short of the summit, gale-force winds put an end to the expedition. On their second attempt in 1994, they took the northern route again. And again, the weather was punishing. On the third attempt, they will attempt to climb the mountain by the Nepalese side.- 1998

Everest 82
Jordi Pons (1983)
Official film of the first Catalan expedition to Everest in 1982 by the difficult West Ridge, organized by the Centre Excursionista de Catalunya (CEC). Xavier Pérez Gil and Òscar Cadiach reached a height of 8,500m, but strong winds and the technical difficulties forced them to retreat. The expedition joined two generations of Catalan climbers: the veterans who made the first ascent of Annapurna West in 1974, and the young ones who made the first Catalan ascent of Everest three years later. In 1982, the West Ridge direct route, first attempted by a French team in 1974, had only been completed once, by a Yugoslav expedition in 1979.- 1983
