Two different groups of climbers ascend the same mountain through a glacier in the alps. Three young and well-trained men, members of the 'Gruppo Scoiattoli Cortina', make a daring ascent by a difficult route through the ice cracks and seracs. In parallel, a beautiful young woman and a guide ascend by an easier route. On their way down, the three men meet the guide and the woman and help them to recover the woman's backpack, fallen into a crevasse. The action is followed by skiers in a ski lodge and by a veteran climber with binoculars. A short film by Luis Trenker.Climbing locations

Even more than 25 years after his death, Luis Trenker is still an icon of the mountains: no one else has ensured such a lasting popularisation of the living environment in the (South) Tyrolean Alps. Whether as a film pioneer or as a TV presenter, he captivated an audience of millions. A gnarly nature boy in a felt hat and a mountaineer's shirt: Luis Trenker, who died in 1990, is still remembered today. In the 1920s and 1930s, the actor, screenwriter and director shaped the young genre of 'mountain film'. His films attracted the masses to the cinema - and at the same time fascinated the dictators of the time, Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.Climbing locations

Das Matterhorn - Vom Mythos zur Marke
- 2015

On 14 July 1865 the Matterhorn was first climbed. Bergwelten takes this event as an opportunity to take a look at the most exciting events on the most famous mountain in the Alps. From the first summit ascent, the first ascent of the north face in 1931 and the legendary winter solo entrance of the Italian Walter Bonatti in 1965, to the unique achievements of today's mountaineers. The film impresses with spectacular climbing shots and unique shots of the film work in the wall. And it accompanies people whose lives are inseparably linked to the unique mountain on the Swiss-Italian border. The Zermatt mountain guide Michi Lerjen grew up on the Swiss side of the mountain. Hervé Barmasse, on the other hand, comes from the Italian side - as a scion of a mountain guide family, he knows the Matterhorn better than anyone else.Climbing locations

Questions are kept in mind: what impelled and drove the people into these extreme landscapes, onto such dangerous heights? What do they get from the mountains and what do they do to the mountains? These questions are the basis for this two hour documentary. This is the first film which takes a unique and comprehensive approach to this extensive subject. There is no commentary necessary, as the protagonists giving their account of the cultural history are experts in their field and quite charismatic personalities. This documentary film is not only conveyed through the lavish pictures or alpinistic enthusiasm, but through the individuals narrating each chapter.Climbing locations

Sounded version of the 1928 film 'Der Kampf ums Matterhorn'. The added sound track included music composed by Schmidt-Boelckeb and dubbed dialogs by different actors. This version is slightly shorter than the silent film due to the disappearance of the movie titles. The story, based on the novel by Carl Haensel recreates the struggle between Edward Whymper and Jean-Antoine Carrel for the first successful ascent of the Matterhorn in 1865. In 1938 two new versions of the movie were filmed under the direction of Luis Trenker, who acted again in the role of Carrel. One version was shot in German (Der Berg ruft) and the other in English (The Challenge).Climbing locations
