    Everest Green

    Everest Green

    Jean-Michel Jorda (2017)

Beyond the Everest adventure hides a tragic environmental and human reality, which starts at 8848 meters above sea level and ends in the open dumps of Kathmandu, the most polluted city on the planet. Everest Green is a film about the eponymous expedition which began on April 5, 2017 in Nepal to clean up the slopes of Everest and promote responsible mountaineering. Ten sherpas removed up to 4 tons of trash from the altitude camps. Behind the story of the expedition, there is an environmental and social emergency that the film highlights by showing the incompatibility of the values of the mountains and the open dumps that dot the Himalayas today.

    La grande ascension

    La grande ascension

    Jean-Pierre Rivalain (2010)

Their only horizon is the suburbs. They are 'neighbourhood youth', as they are caricaturedly called. They were born and raised in an urban environment, grey and concrete. They are now between 18 and 21 years old, have not studied, and are often in a 'situation of rupture'. They are called Dicho, Rani or Nadège, they feel left behind, on the margins of a society in which they do not find their place. A man wants to help them rebuild by offering them an unexpected and exceptional challenge. This man's name is Marc Batard. A world-renowned and experienced mountaineer, he holds the world record for climbing Everest without oxygen via the Nepalese face in 22h30. Their challenge, if they 'accept' it, will be to accompany Marc on an ascent in the Mont Blanc massif.

    L'homme qui revient de haut

    L'homme qui revient de haut

    Gilles Perret (2004)

Why a confirmed climber is playing with death to fight short-lived exploits? Marc Batard has finally found the answers to these questions after thirty years of passionnated conflicts with the highest Earth peaks. He set foot twice on the Everest peak, climbed up the most difficult sides of the Alps, found out the way of inside recovery. He succeeded in fighting the soul trouble by dint of physical suffering. Then he spoke about childhood violence, and chock drag as a millstone during decades. Following his peaks therapy, Marc Batard has pursued his introspection.
