Quand les alpinistes font leur cinéma
Claude Francillon (2000)
Many mountaineers in the course of their activity have used cameras and films to let us participate through images in their adventures and emotions. Many of them have become true film professionals: Lionel Terray, Marcel Ichac, Renè Vernadet, Jean Afanasieff, Pierre Royer, Denis Ducroz, Kurt Diemberg and many others are among the so-called conquerors of the mountain image. The film describes the passion of these men in the highest mountains on earth...behind the lens.Quand les alpinistes font leur cinéma

The games climbers play...
Richard Else (1992)
Fifht episode of 'The climbers', a six-part series on the history of mountaineering by Chris Bonington and Richard Else produced by the BBC. This episode contrasts the traditions of climbers in Britain and on the continent of Europe, the former developing a technique of free climbing and the latter employing aids such as spanners, bolts and drills to climb routes that would otherwise be inaccessible. The program includes old footage of the 1946 film by Alain Pol 'L'appel des cimes' and of a young Joe Brown climbing in Snowdonia in 1957 in a program of the BBC 'Eye to eye' series.- 1992

Karakoram
Marcel Ichac (1986)
Modernized version of the original Karakoran film by Marcel Ichac himself for the fiftieth anniversary of the expedition in 1986. The film is a record of the first French Expedition to the Himalayas, which attempted to climb the Hidden Peak (Gasherbrum I) in 1936. The expedition was led by Henry de Ségogne, with Jean Charignon, Pierre Allain, Raymond Leininger, Jean Carle, Jean Deudon, Louis Neltner, Jacques Azémar, doctor Jeand Arlaud and cinematographer Marcel Ichac. Weather conditions, logistic problems and a strike among the sherpas forced the team to abort at 6900m on the south side. The film received the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1937.- 1986
