Read Macadam

A portrait of Aleksandra Taistra, passionate rock climber with a unique focus and determination, who realized her multi-season project in Sardinia, Hotel Supramonte, in October 2019. A project of this sort requires a commitment level that most would call unattainable and Aleksandra battled tough weather conditions and self-doubt, often without a regular climbing partner, on her journey to complete the route. The film describes both the talents of Aleksandra and the emotional and mental side that underly a project of such ambition.

In February 2015 Philippe Ribière and Dan Bates visited Oman-based climber Read Macadam in the Sultanate of Oman. With word of a treasure trove of massive potential for bouldering first ascents, they explored a remote canyon high in the Hajar Mountains on the eastern most part of Arabia. What they discovered is world class. Get transported back to another era - an ancient village settlement nestled in a valley full of giant freestanding boulders, and join them as they climb first ascents in the home of a traditional Arabic people from another time.

Out of the dark is a documentary about rock climbing that takes place in Majlis Al Jinn and Hadash. It was directed by Hannes Mair in 2014 and produced by Alpsolut. It features Jakob Oberhauser and Read Macadam.
