    Annapurna Terzo

    Annapurna Terzo

    Renato Cepparo (1978)

The Italian expedition to Annapurna III led by Francesco Santon with Renato Cepparo as deputy leader. The team climbed the west ridge, abandoning the idea of the originally proposed southwest pillar at Base Camp because they decided that this route would take too long. From Camp V Giuseppina Cheney, Luigino Henry and Pasang Temba Sherpa reached the summit on October 23. On October 25 Giorgio Brianzi and Piero Radin also reached the summit. Whilst descending from the summit, between Camps V and IV, late in the evening, the first summit group had an accident. Apparently Henry had belayed two members and two Sherpas and as he was coiling the rope, he slipped and fell 1000 feet into a crevasse and was killed.

    Antartide

    Antartide

    Renato Cepparo (1976)

The film is the faithful narration of the first completely autonomous Italian expedition to Antarctica, told through diaries, recordings of radio links and the testimonies of the fifteen participants. The expedition was conceived, organized and financed entirely by Roberto Cèpparo. It was a multidisciplinary scientific sports expedition, which included a mountaineering section led by the Ragno di lecco Gigi Alippi, an underwater section and a scientific section that conducted research in geology, biology and medicine discovering the remains of a vast fossil forest. The mountaineering section successfully completed the ascent of three untouched peaks on the island of Wiencke in extreme weather conditions.

G4 - La montagna di luce

    Renato Cepparo (1961)

The conquest of the Gasherbrum IV, one of the most difficult mountains of the Karakorum, took place on 6 August 1958 thanks to the second national expedition of the Italian Alpine Club led by Riccardo Cassin. It cost three months of hard work, risks and adversity: a choral effort that brought Walter Bonatti and Carlo Mauri to the top after unspeakable efforts. Technical difficulties are around the fifth degree; the altitude, the frost and the storm make progression exasperating. The Gasherbrum IV (7925 meters) even today, has only registered a handful of ascents.
