    Der König vom MontBlanc

    Arnold Fanck (1934)

The legend says that the summit of Mont Blanc is covered in gold. This ancestral belief has obsessed Jacques Balmat, a mountain guide, from his childhood. Now only he believes in the legend, and is the laughingstock of the villagers. Determined to prove that he is right, he takes advantage of the interest of the Swiss naturalist and physicist Horace Benedict de Saussure, who promises a reward of a thousand pieces of gold for the first who reaches the summit. The determination of Jacques Balmat will overcome the numerous obstacles that will arise during the ascent. There is a French version of the film (Reve Eternel), co-signed by Henri Chomette, in which the second-tier actors are different.

    Da lacht Tirol DVD

    Da lacht Tirol

    Lothar Brandler (1967)

There’s excitement in a small mountain village in the Tyrol: The mountain climbers Margit Sollerer and Wolf Pretorius, who’ve already conquered so many difficult peaks, have arrived to climb the 'Pillar'. Especially difficult about the 'Pillar' is an extreme overhang, which even Hias Holleis’ sons Toni and Franz haven’t been able to climb. Since Hias wants to prevent his village becoming the laughing stock of Tyrol -which no doubt will be the case if the strangers are able to climb what the locals can’t- he dares both his sons to try the climb again.
