    Le Cervin

    Jerzy Surdel (1986)

Recreation of the first ascent of the Matterhorn on 14 July 1865. Four of the seven men led by the Englishman Edward Whymper lost their lives in the attempt, and the story of Zermatt and the tragedy on the Matterhorn was soon on everyone’s lips. The rope connecting Edward Whymper and local guides Peter Taugwalder and his son to the rest of the unfortunate rope group, broke during the descent.

    Die Jaspers

    Die Jaspers

    Andreas Köstler (2017)

The Jaspers, are almost a normal family. The Jaspers are Robert and Daniela, their children Stephan and Amelie and the Tibetan Terrier Denga. They would go through everyday life as a normal family if it weren't for the past and the present. If it weren't for these abysses. Robert Jasper is an extreme mountaineer, still one of the best in the world. In his film 'Die Jaspers - eine Familie am Abgrund', SWR filmmaker Andreas Köstler paints a portrait of a family for whom the unknown on the mountain has a very special charm, without their blue-eyed, life-threatening adventures.

Eric Escoffier - Wenn der Kopf den Körper trägt Vod

Eric Escoffier - Wenn der Kopf den Körper trägt

    Sandra Maischberger (1999)

Frenchman Eric Escoffier was considered at the time one of the top 10 climbers in the world. After a serious accident near Chamonix that left him semi paralyzed, he promised himself to resume his activity even though the doctors had predicted that he could no longer walk. Eric overcame all difficulties and in 1997 he climbed the Cho Oyu the first 8000 after the accident, with obvious walking problems. In July 1998 he was back in the Himalayas for an attempt at the Broad Peak. Eric keeps a diary at base camp and the last page is dedicated to his partner Cecile, pregnant at the seventh month that awaits him in France. Eric and his partner Pascale Bessiere disappear under the summit and are never found again. Escoffier was 38.
