    Wallis

    Jürgen Gorter (1965)

Wallis, 'Hot summer... fast pistes' shows different summer mountaineering activities in the Canton of Valais, Switzerland. The documentary follows two skiers on their way to summer skiing. During their descent, they first meet Michel Darbellay, the single conqueror of the Eiger North Face, rock climbing a sharp needle. Later on the descent, they meet a roped couple ascending snow slopes with crampons. The film ends with the skiers arriving at the village where they taste raclette and white wine and are entertained with a demonstration of traditional regional dances.

    Mensch und Fels

    Mensch und Fels

    Wolfgang Gorter (1955)

A film that differs considerably from normal mountain production: it aims to explain to those without mountaineering experience the reasons that can lead a climber to attempt, on his own, a summit. His language is extremely close to the theme: linear and devoid of any complacency, both photographic and narrative.

    Kameraden unterm Edelweiß DVD

    Kameraden unterm Edelweiß

    Wolfgang Gorter (1942)

The shots for this film have nothing to do with sensations, but come from the camera of a mountain hunter of the former 1st Mountain Division Mittenwald. A documentary report of the experiences of German mountain troops between 1939 and 1942 up to the High Caucasus was created from the consistently authentic material of Wolfgang Gorter. From the beginning of the Second World War and the last international winter sports week in Garmisch-Partenkirchen follows the invasion of the German troops into the Soviet Union: Ukraine, Vinnitsa, Stalino, Dnieper, Zaporozhy, Kharkov, Rostov-on-Don and the Nogaean Steppe.
