Ultimate Skiing on Mount Rishiri
Yasutoshi Hattori (2013)
Mount Rishiri (1721 meters) floats in Japan's northernmost sea. In February, when seasonal winds blow from the sea, winter is at its harshest. Daisuke Sasaki, one of Japan's most famous backcountry skiers, dares to ski down 1400 meters of unforgiving cliffs, some with a gradient of 50 degrees. But even before he can ski down, Sasaki must first face the ordeal of climbing the mountain with ski equipment on his back. This documentary follows Sasaki as he challenges-and ultimately succeeds in-skiing down the snowy mountain, despite the unavoidable risk of avalanches.Ultimate Skiing on Mount Rishiri

No man's land
Matthias Mayr (2018)

But the two freeskiers and adventurers Matthias Haunholder and Matthias Mayr don ́t care if regions are ment to be too remote or harsh for skiing. They are getting even more attracted by so called hard conditions. Together with cinematographer Johannes Aitzetmüller they set over for an unsupported expedition into the mainland of Antarctica to find beautiful mountains for skiing. The 3 men team, each hauling a 90kg sled, covered a distance of more than 150km by hiking and using kites. What they found, was much better than expected. The 'holy grale' of freeriding.- 2018

Magnetic Mountains
Steve Wakeford (2017)
In October 2014, Steve Wakeford, a sports broadcast editor, fell 70 metres whilst climbing a mountain known as Les Petites Jorasses in the French Alps. It was a fall that required him to be airlifted out of the mountains suffering from a number of serious injuries and resulted in him being temporarily left in a wheelchair - he is lucky to be alive. At the start of a long journey of rehabilitation, he began to ask himself some serious questions - 'Regardless of injury or trauma, why are we drawn to the mountains in the first place? Is risk an essential part of what we do? Perhaps most importantly, why is it that I am planning to climb the same route from which I fell?'- 2017

Auf den Spuren der Ersten
Matthias Mayr (2017)
The Austrian professional freerider and adventurer Matthias 'Hauni' Haunholder and Matthias Mayr set off to follow the traces of pioneers who had skied down famous Alpine mountains for the first time – and they are impressed. They are even more surprised, when they consider the materials of that time. Observed by a state-of-the-art camera, the two professional skiers try to repeat the partly extremely exposed descents. Due to the climate warming, some ski runs have become even more extreme, or already impossible. They experience thrilling moments on the north face of the Hochfeiler in the Zillertal Alps or in the Pallavicini Gully on the Großglockner.Matthias Mayr, Matthias Haunholder
