Frequently Asked Questions

1. Search films

You can try it by searching related keywords, like the name of a mountain or the name of someone who appears in the film. The film search engine searches not only in titles, but it also considers the following fields: titles, locations, credits, and description. After a first search, you can filter results by setting advanced search parameters.

The film search engine searches by default in the following fields: titles, locations, credits, and description. The results, therefore, correspond to all the films that contain the text you searched in one of these fields. In advanced search, you can restrict the search to the desired field, and search, for example, only by title.

When you search by title in advanced search, the search engine searches in the following fields: title, series name, subtitle, and other titles and titles in other languages. Thus, the results will include all the films that contain the searched word in one of these fields.

To do a search showing all results, just leave the text field empty and press enter or the search button. If you do it in the advanced search, you can filter results setting different parameters and find, for example, all films in one genre, or in an interval of years.

The MNTNFILM database is growing day by day. The film you are looking for may not have been published yet. If you want, you can warn us using the add films form.

When you search a location in the map by text, the search is done through google maps search engine. But not all locations in the MNTNFILM map are indexed by google. So the best way to find them in our map is search typing the name of a nearby area to make a zoom in the map, and from there, navigate to find the location.

2. Watch films

Unfortunately, you cannot. At MNTNFILM we only post links to movies that are available from legal sources. If a movie does not appear as available in any of the modalities (FREE/VOD/BUY), it means that we haven't found it anywhere. If you know a legal source where this film can be found, please, let us know through the add film data form.

No, sorry. Being a registered user does not provide privileged access to watch films that are not available to other users. To know more about the benefits of being a registered user, please, go to the registered users help page.

3. Type of films and classification

Basically climbing and mountaineering films. To learn more, please, go to the film selection criteria page.

Films are classified by genre and subgenre, according to whether the story is real or fictional, and by the mountain and climbing themes that appear in the film. To learn more about film classification, please, go to the film classification page.

4. Lists and reviews

Both are personal film lists. Favorite films list becomes public when a user has opened a channel. Films watchlist will remain always private. While favorite films list is more a kind of list to save movies 'for posterity', films watchlist is intended to save movies to be reviewed later.

To add films to your lists, you must log in and click on the add button on the film page. A confirmation message will be shown inviting you to check the list.

To manage your lists, you must log in and from the user menu (next to the language selector), choose the list you want to check. You can also access these lists from the floating window confirming that a film has been added to your list.

Yes, all your film reviews are saved in the user area. These reviews can be edited at any point by accessing to my film reviews.

You can rate a movie only once, but you can modify the rating at any time by setting a new rating. The last rating is the one that will remain.
